WHO GIVES THE DECİSION TO LEAVE?

 

Despite the complicated and dark fiction of the decision to leave, perhaps most unforgettable snow and sea scenes in history  of cinema have been created. The scene in which snow fell on just two people like a dream, must have already entered the legends.  The coast described as the Lion cliffs, on the other hand, hosts one of the most tragic uses of a tide in the history of cinema in the last scenes.The calm but persistent waves of the sea and the soft but insecure structure of the sand refer to the most basic weakness of human life.

The waves leave no trace on the sand, and man is helpless against these calm forces. He can't understand how uncanny the sand sliding under his feet is.This dark film with  full of secrets is actually like a tribute to the technological achievements of the Koreans, who are also the inventors of the famous Samsung. Information is constantly flowing from mobile phones, smart watches. Chinese woman spekas Korean with her  phone. Siri finds beautiful songs for older women. The detective illuminates the secret of events with the help of technology.

We see that the devices that we thought were smartphones are actually recording machines that track and report us. All the evidence is hidden in them, and even if it is thrown deep into the sea, it can afford to reveal all the secrets when it comes out.

Sometimes to solve a movie, you have to look back at the name of the movie. The Decision to Leave  is among them.When exactly is the time to leave?Who makes the separation decision?  What exactly does separation mean?  It is a film that seeks the answer to these questions and asks these questions. All the elements of the Film Noir are loaded from start to finish. It's not just the narrative. The darkness of the night or the gloom of the sunless days also  covers from the beginning to the end of the film. It's mostly like we're watching a black and white movie.

This is a film in which a woman is at the center of the burden of the tragic and dark deaths of her 2 husbands one after other.Although ”separation is also included in love", the separation that comes with Death no longer has something with  love. The detective who is trying to solve the dark sides of the deaths is an Insomnia patient.

The full-time job of his part-time wife, who can only come home 1 day a week, is the trouble-free operation of a Nuclear Reactor in another city.”We should have sex at least 1 a week," she tells her husband. "Making love is good for health. Even if we are angry with each other, let's not give up on this.”Still, for a detective suffering from insomnia who spends 6 nights a week alone, getting out of the way is not a distant option.

Trying to solve the mystery of the death of the first man on the mountain, he devotes himself to observing the house of the widowed suspicious wife.  This research effort, which amounts to obsession in the absence of his wife, also bears fruit after a while and he manages to uncover the secrets of the death.

However, perhaps it would be better if some secrets were not known. The burden of the case he has solved is heavy and crushing him.The solution to insomnia and  not being away from his wife is moving to the city of the Nuclear Reactor.

But here, too, the scenario repeats itself with the same woman. This time she is newly married and he finds himself investigating the death of her 2nd husband; exactly 13 months after the first incident. Meanwhile, his wife does not hide the discomfort she feels from this woman who has entered their lives too much and leaves her husband without looking back.  She doesn't hesitate to pass by man who naively asks, ”Weren't we going to make love even if we were angry?"

At the end of this vicious cycle scenario, we meet with an even more burning FINAL separation decision. All the separation decisions are made by the same person throughout the film. The detective's fragile nature cannot handle the burden of solving these mysteries.

The woman who realizes that every secret has been solved finds the solution in turning herself into a secret.The one who makes the decision on separation has the final say.
